My Goals

I’m riding the 564 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive in North Carolina and Virginia – my Tour de Blue Ridge – to raise money for cancer research. We all know a family member, friend, work colleague, or acquaintance that has been touched by cancer. My father was 56 years old when he died of colon cancer in 1980. My brother was 45 when he died of pancreatic cancer in 1997. A good friend recently lost her courageous fight against pancreatic cancer. Another close friend just successfully completed her great fight against breast cancer. I believe research is critical to identifying the causes, treatments, and prevention of the many types of cancer. Please consider a donation to support cancer research.

I’m also riding my Tour de Blue Ridge to see if I can actually ride the entire 564 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive from Cherokee, North Carolina to Front Royal, Virginia. The Tour de Blue Ridge is not an organized group ride. My ride will take place over 14 days and many miles of climbing mountains and hills. I’ve never attempted anything so physically and mentally challenging. There are no shortcuts. I will test my body, mind, and character to prepare for and complete the Tour de Blue Ridge.
